Fritz Greuner

Fritz Reinhardt Greuner (born January 4, 1903 in Chemnitz , † May 16, 1990 in Berlin ) was a German functionary of the GDR block party LDPD , editor-in-chief and publishing director . He was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Greuner, son of an employee, attended the Reformrealgymnasium, the higher boys' school and the higher commercial school in Chemnitz. From 1920 to 1922 he attended the dyeing school at the Academy for Technology in Dresden . From 1922 to 1924 he worked in Barcelona , first as a master dyer at the “Carlos Ahnert” dye works (1922/23) and then as the technical director of the “Sarda y Cie” dye works (1923/24). Between 1924 and 1931 he was an authorized signatory in the textile printing company “A. Welsberg & Co. ”in Chemnitz.

Between 1926 and 1933 he was a member of the DDP and the German State Party and from 1925 to 1933 a member and speaker of the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold and the Republican Reichsbund . From 1925 to 1933 he was also secretary of the German Peace Society in Chemnitz. In 1927 Greuner joined the white-collar union .

After taking a physical education teacher exam at the Academy for Physical Education, Greuner worked as a freelance physical education teacher in Chemnitz from 1932 to 1941. From 1941 Greuner did military service and in 1945 was taken prisoner by the Soviets, where he remained until 1948. During this time he attended an antifa school .

LDPD functionary

After returning to Germany, Greuner joined the LDP in 1949. From 1949 to 1952 he acted as secretary and deputy chairman of the Chemnitz district association of the LDPD and was a member of the state board of Saxony , and from 1951/52 also a member of the main committee of the LDPD. From 1952 to 1955 he worked as secretary of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district council of the LDPD. Between 1954 and 1962 Greuner completed a distance learning course to become a journalist at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . Between 1955 and 1961 he was editor-in-chief of the LDPD newspaper Sächsisches Tageblatt in Dresden . From 1956 to 1961 Greuner also belonged to the Political Committee of the Dresden District Executive of the LDPD. From 1961 to 1968 Greuner was the publishing director of the LDPD book publisher Der Morgen in Berlin.

From 1950 to 1957 Greuner was city ​​councilor in Chemnitz and Karl-Marx-Stadt, from 1950 to 1952 he was also a member of the Saxon state parliament and there in 1951/1952 also chairman of the LDPD parliamentary group. From 1952 to 1954 he was a member of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district assembly and deputy chairman of the Standing Commission for Health Care. From 1954 to 1963 he was finally a member of the People's Chamber and chairman of the committee of the rules of procedure.

Since 1949 Greuner was a member of the cultural association for the democratic renewal of Germany , since 1950 a member of the FDGB , the Society for Sport and Technology and the Society for German-Soviet Friendship (DSF). From 1952 to 1955 he was a member of the district committee of the National Front Karl-Marx-Stadt, from 1956 to 1961 a member of the district management of the Kulturbund Dresden. From 1956 he was a member of the Association of German Journalists (VDJ). From 1962 he was a member of the Presidium of the Franco-German Society and in 1972 of the DSF District Executive in Berlin.
