Africa Cup 1970 / qualification

To qualify for the finals of the Africa Cup in Sudan , 23 members of the Confédération Africaine de Football registered their teams; four nations withdrew their teams before the start of qualification. In the first knockout round there were ten games, three teams received byes . In the second qualifying round, six nations qualified for the African Cup of Nations . The hosts and defending champions were automatically qualified.
