Fulvio Scola (born December 10, 1982 in Agordo ) is an Italian cross-country skier .

Career

Fulvio Scola played his first international competition at the Nordic Junior World Championships 2001 in Karpacz - Szklarska . There he reached the quarter finals of the sprint competition and finished in 22nd place. A year later in Schonach he improved this result and took 13th place. After several appearances in the Cross-Country Skiing Continental Cup , Scola had his first appearance in the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup on December 7, 2003 . In Toblach he competed in the team sprint with Valerio Theodule . The duo took 14th place. Scola had his first use in an individual competition a week later in Val di Fiemme , where he failed to qualify for the finals in the sprint as 38th. This season he continuously improved his results in the Continental Cup and celebrated his first podium finish in Admont with third place in the sprint competition.

In 2005 he reached the final run of the sprint competition at the Universiade in Innsbruck , where he won the bronze medal. Two years later he was able to repeat this result in Pragelato . In the 2006/07 season Scola took part in the Tour de Ski . At the sprint in Asiago he survived the qualification for the finals and won his first World Cup points in 20th place. He finished the tour in 46th place. At the World Cup in Otepää , he surprised classically as twelfth over 15 kilometers. In the 2008/09 season Scola impressed with three victories in the Alpine Cross-Country Cup (formerly Continental Cup ), which secured him the qualification for the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec . There he surprisingly reached the semifinals of the sprint competition and finished eighth. In the team sprint he was 13th with Renato Pasini . He finished the season second in the Grandpa Cup, six points behind the winner Florian Kostner . After Scola could not prevail in the 2009/10 season in the World Cup either, he started again mainly in the Alpine Cup . There he again secured second place in the overall standings with three wins this season. Scola made her breakthrough in the World Cup in the 2010/11 season . In Düsseldorf he reached the final and surprisingly came second behind Emil Jönsson . He also reached the final run in Davos and took fourth place.
