action

The plot follows on from the open end of the previous film Bender's Big Score , at the end of which Bender causes a rift into another universe.

A month later, Fry introduces his new girlfriend, Colleen. Bender is mad at Fry because he wants to move in with Colleen from the shared flat. However, Fry soon breaks up with Colleen when he finds out that she is polyamorous . Professor Farnsworth attends a conference on the anomaly created by the rift, as does his arch rival Wernstrom. Although he agrees to Farnsworth's expedition on the anomaly, he would like to go on his own expedition himself. In a competition, the professor wins the expedition for his team.

Bender is sent to investigate the anomaly, but his touch causes a shock wave, which hurls the crew away. Wernstrom discovers that the anomaly repels electronic objects while living things can pass through the rift. The two scientists team up to start another expedition, but are turned away in favor of a military attack, commanded by Zapp Brannigan. In his lovesickness, Fry sneaks onto Zapp's ship to find solace in the other universe. Bender becomes a member of the “League of Robots”, a secret robot society. His hatred of people quickly makes him a respected member.

While Fry enters the anomaly, Zapp's plan of attack goes awry and Kif dies in an accident. As Fry drifts through the alien universe, he comes across a giant eye with tentacles. These penetrate the crack and attack every living being. The tentacles are indestructible because they are made of electrical matter. Fry falls in love with the tentacle monster called Yivo and becomes pope of a new religion that Yivo worships. The tentacles attach themselves to the neck of every living being, which means that they also love Yivo. On the run from the tentacles, Amy, Leela and Zapp meet Bender, who helps them hide. However, the league catches him in the act and mocks him, for which he challenges Calculon to a duel.

In an abandoned hut, Zapp takes advantage of Amy's grief to sleep with her. Eventually the tentacles catch her too, and Leela is the last free person in the universe. She discovers that the tentacles are only sex organs and reveals this at a religious gathering where Yivo speaks to everyone. Yivo admits that its original intent was mere pairing, but that it is soulmate with all 20 quadrillion living things in the universe. As a sign of goodwill, he revives kif. Yivo wants to start the relationship anew with everyone, removes the tentacles and invites everyone to a rendezvous.

Meanwhile, Bender wins the duel against Calculon and destroys part of the league's headquarters. Calculon is disgusted by Bender's behavior, leaves the league and passes the presidency on to Bender. After the rendezvous, the universe says that Yivo does not want to enter into a bond and wants to give him the pass. Before they can tell him, Yivo proposes to the universe that it accepts it. Meanwhile, Bender strikes a deal with the robot devil to raise a robot army and subjugate the world. However, before it can attack, people voluntarily leave the earth to live on Yivo. In Yivo's universe, everyone must promise never to make contact with any other universe. However, Fry sends Bender a letter to Earth without Yivo knowing about it. Leela also accepts Yivo when she sees that everyone is happy.

After reading Fry's letter, Bender sets off to save his friend. He and his army harpoon Yivo through the anomaly and drag it into their universe, where the robots are able to attack Yivo. Fry convinces Bender to spare Yivo, but Yivo discovers that Bender's sword is covered in electrical matter from Fry's letter. Since Fry broke his promise, Yivo ends the universe. Yivo finds solace in Colleen, who is the only one allowed to stay with Yivo. Then Yivo closes the anomaly.
