The Götzenbach flood retention basin , also called Götzenbachsee , is used for flood protection in the Leintal , west of Göggingen near Schwäbisch Gmünd in the Ostalb district in Baden-Württemberg . This flood retention basin (HRB) was created - like ten other HRB along the Lein - by the water association Kocher-Lein. With the construction of these flood retention basins, the risk of flooding in the Leintal and in the middle Kochertal should be reduced. In permanent traffic jams it has a storage area of 3.4 ha and 90,000 m³ of storage capacity, which in the event of a flood can increase to 45 ha and 1,750,000 m³. The dam has a height of 23 m.
leisure
