Güdesweiler is one of four districts of the Saarland community of Oberthal in the St. Wendel district .

history
Local history
Güdesweiler was first mentioned in a document from the Wörschweiler monastery in 1258 . The next known documentary mention is in 1629 in the hall book of Tholey Abbey , from which it emerges that the Güdesweiler Meyerei comprised 20 houses at that time.
The place was assigned to the canton Tholey until 1814 , in the Moselle department . On January 1, 1974, Güdesweiler was incorporated into the Oberthal community.
Parish affiliation
Güdesweiler was formerly part of the parish Bliesen . As part of the establishment of the parish of Namborn, the parish of Namborn came into being in 1803. August 12, 1922 - establishment of the Güdesweiler chapel community, November 25, 1941 - establishment of the Güdesweiler vicarage, May 20, 1947 - establishment of the Güdesweiler parish.

Culture and sights
Buildings
The Christ the King Church was built in 1928
The Valentine's Chapel was built between 1761 and 1764 by the hermit Johann Nonninger. According to the legend, Nonninger wanted to find his inner peace again because he was to blame for the drowning of a young Jew.
Millpetersch 'Haus , a farmhouse built in 1793 , is now a museum. The functional rooms (weaving and spinning room, as well as shoe and basket-making workshop) are still preserved. There is also a grocery store and a coin collection to visit.
Street of Sculptures (St. Wendel)
In 1979 it was initiated by Leo Kornbrust , the founder of the International Stone Sculpture Symposium St. Wendel e. V., established. It runs past Güdesweiler and is dedicated to the sculptor Otto Freundlich . The street comprises a total of 22 sculptures designed by international sculptors.
