Günther Haack

Günther Haack (born February 20, 1929 in Berlin ; † June 16, 1965 in Halle (Saale) ; also Günter Haack ) was a German actor .

Life

After the Second World War, Günther Haack first took acting lessons in Berlin (East) . He then played at the Deutsches Theater and the Volksbühne . He was also active in radio and at the Berlin cabaret Lachbrett . During this time DEFA also became aware of him. He achieved great public success with the role of the joiner Peter Ivanov in the film adaptation of the Lortzing opera Zar und Zimmermann . The portrayal of teacher Kiepe in Don't Forget Me My Traudel or the border guards Zimmer in Every Hour increased his popularity.

After a traffic accident caused by him under the influence of alcohol and a subsequent flight, Haack received a prison sentence of 2 years and 6 months in early 1958. To serve his sentence, he volunteered for underground mining. After his early release, he managed to continue his acting career. As a passenger, Haack had an accident on June 8, 1965, in which the singer Manfred Raasch was also killed. As a result of the accident, he died on June 16 at the age of only 36 in Halle (Saale).
