Günter Hiemann (born March 8, 1930 in Leipzig ) is a German military scientist (Dr. sc. Mil.) And former major general of the National People's Army of the German Democratic Republic . For many years he was deputy CS and chief command post and automation in the LSK / LV command and the last director of the office for airspace coordination of the GDR.

Life

Günter Hiemann was born as the son of a commercial clerk in Leipzig. There he attended high school, passed the partial high school diploma and learned the profession of surveyor from 1944 to 1948 . From 1946 to 1948 he was a member of the LDPD . After completing his vocational training, he first worked as a topographer for SAG Wismut in Aue and Ilmenau and from 1951 for the Land Survey Office of Saxony . With this previous education he was employed by the MdI in 1951 as a consultant in the main department of surveying and cartography . In 1955 he became a member of the SED .

Military career

In 1953, Hiemann joined the armed organs of the GDR. There he was immediately deployed in the area of ​​the Barracked People's Police (KVP) in the topographical service of the then VP-Luft .

Promotions

Training and first uses

On January 20, 1953, he was appointed sub-lieutenant and at the same time he was appointed head of topography in what was then the head office for air (HVL). In the same year the HVL was restructured to manage the aero clubs. At the same time, the so-called aero clubs , the predecessor associations of the later 1st LVD and 3rd LVD, were set up .

Here he showed excellent achievements and was already in 1956 as a preparatory course for a degree with subsequent university studies at the military academy for engineers of the air force "Prof. NJ Zhukovsky “ delegated to the USSR. Hiemann graduated in September 1962 with the academic degree Dipl.-Mil. from.

Service as a staff officer

His special skills and the excellent degree already recommended for him after his return to the GDR a higher-quality employment ( OF-5 ) as Master Controller, Central Command Post 14 in the LSK / LV command of the NVA Air Force .

From 1963 to 1972 he was employed as head of the command post and air traffic control, also in the LSK / LV command - and after the separation of the two basic areas until 1975, he became head of the command post .

Service as a general

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the GDR, Colonel Hiemann was appointed major general on October 7, 1977 . Discharge

When the NVA was dissolved, Major General Hiemann was dismissed with effect from October 2, 1990.
