The Ford 300 is the season finale of the NASCAR Nationwide Series . It always takes place on the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, southwest of Miami , in the US state of Florida .

The race was held for the first time in 1995, at that time under the name "Jiffy Lube Miami 300". That was the name of the race until 1998. In 1999, Hot Wheels got involved as a sponsor and the race was named "HotWheels.com 300". In the following years the name changed twice.

In 2002 Ford sponsored all NASCAR season finals.

Since then, all races have been held on the Homestead-Miami Speedway on a weekend and are therefore part of the Ford Championship Weekend . In all cases, the numbers in the name of the race represent the distance to be covered in miles.

ESPN2 has been broadcasting the race in the USA since 2007 .
