Gabriele Jakobi (born March 8, 1953 in Nuremberg ) is a German theater director . She lives in Berlin and the USA

Gabriele Jakobi studied theater studies and German at the Free University of Berlin . In 1984 she founded the Free Group Penthesilea e. V. With Penthesilea (Kleist) she was invited to the Moscow Theatertage in 1987 and one year later nominated as the best theater for the Berlin Theatertreffen . In 1991 she graduated from the Bern Drama School with a thesis on Samuel Beckett's works Happy Days, Endgame, Waiting for Godot . In 1993 she wrote an unrealized screenplay Malloy Dies .

After her first direction at the Schauspiel Frankfurt ( Die Maiden von Jean Genet ) she worked as a director for several years at the Schauspiel Köln and at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus with productions a. a .: Antigone ( Friedrich Hölderlin ), Faith, Love, Hope ( Ödön von Horváth ), The Last Volume (S. Beckett). Since then, G. Jakobi has directed a. a. at the Schiller Theater in Berlin , the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg , the Thalia Theater in Hamburg , at the Renaissance Theater Berlin and in the Kulturbrauerei Berlin (2010, The evening after the funeral of my best friend of Marlene Streeruwitz ).
