Gabrielle Dennis (born October 19, 1981 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American actress . She gained fame primarily through her roles in the series Rosewood and Marvel's Luke Cage .

life and career

Gabrielle Dennis is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She first attended The School for Creative and Performing Arts in her hometown and then earned a degree in theater from Howard University . She took on her first acting role in front of the camera in 1990 with an appearance in the television film A wish comes true . Between 1998 and 2000 she hosted the children's television show Teen Summit . After appearing in several short films, she took part in the 2006 sketch show The Underground . In 2009 she was Treyvonetta in the sports comedy Girls United - Gib Alles! to see. After guest appearances, including in The Wizard of Waverly Place , My Name Is Earl and Southland , she starred as Denise Roy in the first season of the comedy series Blue Mountain State in 2010. In 2008 she took on a recurring role in the series The Game as Janay Brice , which she played until 2012.

She then appeared in guest roles in Franklin & Bash , Justified , Baby Daddy , Bones and Bonr Again Virgin , before starring in 2015 as Pippy Rosewood in the series Rosewood . She played the role in a total of 44 episodes until 2017. She was then cast as Tilda Johnson in one of the new leading roles in the second season of the Netflix series Marvel's Luke Cage . Also in 2018 she put in the miniseries The Bobby Brown Story pop singer Whitney Houston . After a small role in the series Insecure , Dennis since 2017 in the series SWAT as a sister of the of Shemar Moore represented Daniel Harrelson , seen in a supporting role . Since 2019 she is part of the cast of the TV show A Black Lady Sketch Show radio station HBO .

In addition to her acting roles, she is also a regular guest on US television shows as a singer. She has also produced four short films so far, including A Super Secret from 2014, for which she also wrote the script. Dennis lives in Los Angeles and has the wish one day to act in a series she invented.
