The Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg 1939/40 was the seventh season of the Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg in football.

With the beginning of the Second World War , all championship games across Germany were canceled. In Berlin , however, they agreed to keep the game going during the war by playing the Danzig Cup . After the other associations in the German Reich resumed gaming shortly afterwards , it was finally decided to host a war championship . Therefore, the Danzig Cup was subsequently converted to qualify for the war championship . In the Danzig Cup , the teams of the 1st season only played against teams of the 2nd season. After the end of the games, all teams of the 1st season and the two best teams of the 2nd season competed in two groups for the championship. The two group winners SC Union Oberschöneweide and Blau-Weiß 90 fought two games for the title, which Union was able to secure in the addition. In the final round of the German championship , however , the locksmith boys failed at SK Rapid Vienna .
