Georg Graf von Zech-Burkersroda actually Georg Wulff Graf von Zech, otherwise known as von Burkersroda , (born August 6, 1938 in Halle ) is a German entrepreneur , canon and dean of the United Cathedral Donors of Merseburg , Naumburg and the Zeitz collegiate monastery .

Life

Graf von Zech-Burkersroda was born in 1938 as the eldest son of Georg Julius Rudolf von Zech-Burkersroda (1905–1945) from the Goseck line of the noble family Graf von Zech-Burckersroda and his wife Margarethe von der Borch (1914–1997). His maternal grandmother Louisa von der Borch, born von Zech-Burkersroda (1881–1970), was the cousin of his paternal grandfather Ludwig Rudolf von Zech-Burkersroda (1873–1946) and came from the younger Börlner line . After the Soviet military administration came to power on July 1, 1945, the family property was expropriated. His father died on October 2, 1945 in special camp No. 8 Torgau and was buried in Torgau . His mother fled with him and his two siblings to Upper Franconia .

He studied mechanical engineering in Cologne . After graduating, he then worked for three years in the USA , where he completed a degree in business administration with the support of a scholarship and became an employee of the construction machinery manufacturer Gehl in West Bend (Wisconsin) . For this company he built up a subsidiary in Everswinkel and became its managing director and partner . In 1967 he moved to Angelmodde with his family . He has three children.

After the opening of the inner-German border , he took up a second residence in Naumburg and was involved in the renovation and use of the former family seat of Schloss Goseck u. a. as a European music and cultural center. As canon and dean of the United Cathedral Founders of Merseburg , Naumburg and the Zeitz Collegial Foundation , he successfully campaigned for the renovation of the churches and the inclusion of Naumburg Cathedral as a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
