Georg Ludwig Hansen (also: Georgius Ludovicus Hansen and Georg Ludewig Hansen * 1. October 1738 in Hoya ; † 17th December 1818 in Hannover ) was a German physician and Royal Hanoverian Hof - Medicus .

Life

Career

Georg Ludwig Hansen was the son of the regimental surgeon Carl Leopold Hansen (* 1703 - 26 August 1776 in Hoya) and his wife (* 1701 - 31 March 1767).

Hansen was one of the first students at the Christianeum in Altona before he made a medical appearance in Hoya. Until he came of age, his father presumably helped out on an interim basis.

As a result, Hansen studied at the University of Göttingen , where he defended his disputation on rickets on March 29, 1762 against the personal doctor Johann Georg Roederer and awarded the Dr. med. lock. In 1768 he appeared as such in Hoya.

On November 27, 1767, Hansen married in the Neustädter Hof- und Stadtkirche St. Johannis Margarete Christina von der Vecken, daughter of the Hanover merchant Anton von der Vecken and Anna Maria Schilling. He had several children with her. Through his marriage, Hansen was related to Anthony von der Vecken (1687–1766), the grandfather of the writer Johann Anton Leisewitz .

As a result, Hansen established himself as a general practitioner in Hanover. There he was a founding member of the Natural History Society of Hanover in 1779 and gave the lecture Dr. Georg Ludwig Hansen on the question of what has happened so far for the natural history and physical description of Kurhannover.

Before that, Hansen - together with the court medicus Johann Ernst Wichmann - had devised a plan for a memorial for Werlhof for their friend, the poet and court medicus Paul Gottlieb Werlhof , who had died a few years earlier , for which the two then a collection from other personalities of the Hanoverian people City society as well as from the widely dispersed circle of friends of the deceased. Subsequently - after an "invention" by the court copper engraver Johann Philipp Ganz and the execution by the court and stone sculptor Johann Friedrich Ziesenis - in April 1783 the monument to Paul Gottlieb Werlhof was erected in the old St. Nikolai cemetery . Later, Leopold Friedrich Günther von Goeckingk rightly pointed out in the journal he published by and for Germany in the “Description of the Werlhof Monument in Hanover” published in 1785 that other famous doctors such as the “ WeltweiseGottfried Wilhelm Leibniz did not yet have their own Monument received.

In 1805 Hansen was appointed court medic, rural physician and city physician adjunct .

The Hanoverian address book from 1817 recorded the residence of the Hofmedicus in the street Knappenort 828 .

Writings and correspondence

In the 18th century, Hansen wrote various treatises in nationally distributed papers such as Ernst Gottfried Baldinger's Neue Magazin für Ärzte , the Hannövrischen Magazin , the intelligence paper of the Leipziger Literaturzeitung or the Göttingen scholar advertisements . He described several times the treatment of poor sick people in Hanover in particular, the treatment of rabies spread by dogs , the collecting of truffles in different areas, and biographies of the economist Johann Beckmann and the vaccination pioneer Georg Friedrich Ballhorn .

Hansen was in personal and letter contact with the archivist, banker and art collector Georg Kestner ; autographs of both have survived today.

The directory of the book collection of ... Hansen , written by the book collector and edited by Ernst August Telgener in 1819, was published posthumously .
