Georg Ludwig Rudolf von Linstow ( December 4, 1743 , † August 14, 1807 in Klieschau ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were the Hessian colonel and commander of Gießen Adolf Günther von Linstow (* November 15, 1707, † 1759) and his wife Amalia Katharina NN

Military career

Linstow came early as a page to the Prussian King Friedrich II. On January 14, 1760 he was employed as an ensign in the "von Krockow" dragoon regiment . During the Seven Years' War Linstow fought in the battles of Liegnitz , Torgau and Freiberg as well as in the siege of Dresden . During that time he became second lieutenant on April 14, 1761 .

After the war, Linstow was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on September 30, 1772, and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . He fought in the battles near Trautenau and Braunau. For Braunau he received the order Pour le Mérite on February 18, 1779 . He was then sent to Frankfurt am Main for advertising in 1779/80 . On September 22, 1782 he became a staff captain and on January 4, 1790 major . In the First Coalition War Linstow fought in the cannonade of Valmy , the Battle of Kaiserslautern and also in the battles at Wachenheim, Hochheim, Bingen, Eschweiler and Zweibrücken. He was wounded near Beubenhausen. During this time he was appointed squadron chief on February 9, 1793 .

After the war, Linstow became a lieutenant colonel on June 25, 1798 and a colonel on June 23, 1799. On October 5, 1805 he received his resignation as major general and a pension of 600 thalers. He died on August 14, 1807 in Klieschau (Steinau district).

In his assessment of December 15, 1795 it says: Is a good and useful officer, has loved wine and games, since he had long been into advertising, but is said to have corrected himself from it.

family

Linstow married Maria Magdalena Dietz in Frankfurt am Main in 1780 (* January 25, 1762; † May 25, 1799). The couple had several children:

  • Georg Ernst Karl Friedrich Christoph Rudolf (born June 25, 1786 - † October 28, 1806), died as a second lieutenant in the Dragoon Regiment No. 2 near Prenzlau
  • Georg (June 25, 1792; † June 29, 1856), Lieutenant Colonel ⚭ 1818 Ernestine von Liebermann (* December 10, 1794; † September 26, 1874)

After the death of his first wife, he married Henriette von Lüttwitz (April 1755 - January 13, 1835) from the house of Lang-Heinersdorf on December 2, 1803 in Klieschau . She was the widow of the landscape director Johann Rudolf von Skrbensky (* 1750; † June 13, 1800).
