from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Ludwig von Uffeln († September 29, 1733 in Vienna ) was an imperial general.

Life

Georg Ludwig is said to come from either the curb-Brunswick line of the originally Hessian Herren von Offeln , or the curb-Brunswick branch of the originally Bremen-based Herren von Offeln . He himself also appeared more frequently under the name Offeln . As a young man, he and Prince Maximilian of Hanover did imperial military service. For ten years he commanded the prince's regiment in Hungary . On March 20, 1716 he was promoted to Sergeant General and as such took part in the Turkish campaigns in 1717 and 1718. Here he distinguished himself in particular from Peterwardein and Belgrade . The regiment, which he headed up to this point as commander , was transferred to him as head of the regiment in 1723 , and in 1726 he was also promoted to field marshal lieutenant .

In 1727 Uffeln is said to have been raised to the status of imperial baron and in 1730 received a major donation in the Kingdom of Slavonia for 30 years of service , including Syrmia , Carlowitz and Salankemen .

family

Georg Ludwig was married to Countess Maria Franziska von Rothal († July 1746) widowed von Wolffsthal . She was the daughter of Ehrenreich Ludwig von Rothal and his wife Countess Maria Susanna von Kuefstein .

The marriage resulted in four daughters, Marie Caroline (* 1717), Maria Charlotte, Maria Maximiliane (* 1719) and Maria Michaela, of which at least the three younger ones survived the father. Of his two stepdaughters, who were brought into the marriage by his wife, one was married to Count Lamberg from Graetz , the other Maria Francesca (1710–1778) to Count Camillo from Colloredo .
