Georg Waitz (born January 23, 1909 , † March 1993 ) was an Austrian football player who was part of the national team during the time of the wonder team .

Club career

Waitz rose in the 1927/28 season with FC Nicholson in the I. League and was able to occupy sixth place with the team in their debut season in the top division, to which the links connector made a significant contribution with seven goals. In the following years, Nicholson was able to keep himself in the league after the renaming of FC Wien and Waitz was one of the constants in the list of favorites. In September 1930 he even scored four goals in a championship game in an 8-0 victory over the Vienna AC .

In 1934 Georg Waitz left his regular club and moved to Vienna AC, where he did not even play for a full season. In the course of the spring round he joined the second division club 1. Favoritner FC Vorwärts 06 and returned to FC Vienna in early 1936. In 1937 he finally accepted an offer from the French professional league and played one season for the RC Lens .

National team

After Waitz was used three times in the Viennese city selection between 1928 and 1930 and scored two goals, he received his first call-up to the national team in 1932. In an international match against Sweden , association captain Hugo Meisl offered five debutants, including the Nicholson striker. Although Waitz contributed a goal to the 4-3 victory, this was his only use.
