View on Brexit

In November 2018, at the age of 86, Huxley was granted Irish citizenship in addition to his British citizenship . He justified this with the intention of the United Kingdom to withdraw from the EU ( United Kingdom and Gibraltar European Union membership referendum ), describing the processes associated as "folly" ( English Follies ). The decision of the former British Prime Minister David Cameron to hold a referendum ( BREXIT referendum ), he condemned as "completely irresponsible" ( English utterly irresponsible ). When asked about a comparison to the tragedies of ancient Greece , Huxley replied with the quote " Quem Deus vult perdere, prius dementat ". ( German  Whom God wants to destroy, he takes his mind first ).
