George Saville (born June 1, 1993 in Camberley , England ) is a Northern Irish national football player . He has been under contract with Millwall FC since 2017 and is loaned to Middlesbrough FC .

Career

Saville began his footballing career as a youth at Reading FC , but moved to Chelsea FC at the age of 9 . There he was promoted permanently to the U-23 team in 2012, but could not prevail over the long term, let alone recommend for the first team. During his three-month so-called emergency loan to Millwall FC , he made his professional debut in the game against Leeds United on March 2, 2013 in the English second division . In the following 2013/14 season he was loaned to Brentford FC , where he scored his first professional goal on October 19, 2013 in a 3-1 home win over Colchester United . Although he was regularly used at Brentford with 40 season appearances in which he scored four goals, Saville was sold to Wolverhampton Wanderers after the loan from Chelsea . There he could not prevail, however, and came in three seasons with two more loans to only 50 missions. In 2017 he moved permanently to Millwall FC, to whom he had previously been loaned twice. There he developed into a high performer and was regularly employed. He has been loaned to Middlesbrough FC since August 2018 and will be transferred to Middlesbrough in January 2019 for a rumored transfer fee of £ 8 million.

National team

Saville was born and raised in England. However, through his grandmother he is eligible to play for Northern Ireland . There he made his debut in the 3-1 home defeat against Germany in the World Cup qualifier on October 5, 2017, when he came on for Corry Evans .
