Gerard Johannes Nicolaus de Korte (born June 13, 1955 in Vianen , Netherlands ) is a Dutch clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of 's-Hertogenbosch .

Life

Gerard de Korte was St. Aloysius in the church in the September 5, 1987 Utrecht by Cardinal Adrianus Johannes Simonis for priests ordained. On April 11, 2001 he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Utrecht and titular bishop of Caesarea in Mauretania . The Bishop of Utrecht, Cardinal Simonis, ordained him episcopal on June 2nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Johannes Gerardus Maria Cardinal Willebrands , Archbishop Emeritus of Utrecht and President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity , and Johannes Antonius de Kok OFM , Auxiliary Bishop in Utrecht. His motto is Confidens in Christ .

On June 18, 2008 he was welcomed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Groningen-Leeuwarden . The inauguration took place on September 13th.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of 's-Hertogenbosch on March 5, 2016 . The inauguration took place on May 14th of the same year.
