Gerd Antos (* 1. January 1949 in Markersdorf ) is a German linguist with the main focus Applied Linguistics and Professor of German Linguistics at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg and an honorary professor at the German Department of the Faculty of Arts, University of Pannonia Veszprém (Hungary) .

He is co-editor (together with Karlfried Knapp ) of the Handbooks of Applied Linguistics series (De Gruyter).

Life

Gerd Antos studied German literature , philosophy and history at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg from 1969 to 1973 . Afterwards he was employed as a research assistant and from 1976 as a "teacher for special tasks" at the chair for contemporary German at the University of Saarland . He received his doctorate in 1980 on “Basics of a theory of formulation. Text production in written and spoken language ”. The habilitation followed in 1992 with a thesis on “lay linguistics. Studies on language and communication problems in everyday life. Using the example of language guides and communication training "with the Venia legendi :" Modern German linguistics and applied linguistics ".

Since 1993 he has been Professor of German Linguistics at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and since 2006 Honorary Professor at the German Institute of the Philosophical Faculty of the Pannonian University of Veszprém (Hungary).
