Gernot Schedlberger

Gernot Schedlberger (born July 30, 1976 in Steyr , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian composer , répétiteur, musician and university teacher.

Life

Schedlberger studied music theory with Gunter Waldek at the Bruckner Conservatory Linz (today: Anton Bruckner Private University ) and graduated with distinction in 1993. He then began studying orchestral conducting with Leopold Hager and composition with Iván Eröd and Kurt Schwertsik (1999 diploma “with distinction”) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

Schedlberger composed in various genres, including several chamber operas ( NN 1998, Nero's Comeback 2001, Die Geschichte des Picando 2002, Der Heinrich aus der Hölle 2009, MarieLuise 2011/12) and theater music ( Der Ring des Nibelungen and others).

Schedlberger is also active as a performing musician (pianist) in Vienna and has often performed at concerts by the “ensemble xx. century ”, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra , the Synchron Stage Vienna Orchestra a. a. With.

In 2010 Schedlberger founded the concert series "cercle - concert series for new music" together with Lukas Haselböck, which has since organized concerts with over 100 world premieres by Austrian composers from the fields of contemporary instrumental composition, electroacoustic composition, media composition and performance art in Vienna.
