Gertrud Stephani-Klein

Gertrud Stephani-Klein (born March 13, 1914 as Gertrud Friederike Klein von Klingenthal in Marosvásárhely , Kingdom of Hungary ; † September 10, 1995 in Nussdorf am Inn , Bavaria ) was a German-language children's book author and publicist.

Life

After the early death of her father Friedrich Edgar Klein von Klingenthal, kk professional officer in Chernivtsi ( Bukowina , Empire Austria-Hungary ), she came to Sibiu ( Hermannstadt ), where she attended the German Evangelical Girls' College and later the German Business School. Then she worked as an editorial secretary for the “Transylvanian-German Tageblatt” in Sibiu (Hermannstadt).

In 1936 she moved to Brașov (Kronstadt), where she lived with her family until they were expelled to Germany . Between 1962 and 1969 she worked as a secretary at the Kronstadt Folk Art School (Școala Populară de Artă, director Margit Grid), where well-known artists and art educators such as Harald Meschendörfer , Adelheid Goosch and Helfried Weiß worked at the time. From 1969 she worked as an editorial secretary for the German-language weekly “Karpaten Rundschau” and then emigrated to Germany in 1973 with her husband.

Gertrud Stephani-Klein first published short stories, poems, songs as well as numerous articles on cultural history and travel reports in various Romanian-German newspapers and magazines, and from 1973 also in Germany. In the 1960s and 1970s, in addition to poetry and prose, two children's books and cultural-historical articles were published in various German-language periodicals, first in the Volkszeitung (Kronstadt) and later in: Heilbronner Voice ( Heilbronn ), Kulturpolitische Korrespondenz ( Bonn ), Aufbau . Some of her poems were set to music by the Romanian-German composers Norbert Petri and Karl Fisi and in various collections, such as “Songs of the Homeland.
