Ghost Movie (AKA A Haunted House ) is an American horror - spoof from the year 2013 with Marlon Wayans in the lead role. Directed by Michael Tiddes ; the script was written by Marlon Wayans and Rick Alvarez . The film opened in the United States on January 11, 2013 and in Germany on February 21, 2013. The production budget was 2.5 million US dollars . A sequel was released in April 2014 with Ghost Movie 2 .
The film parodies the found footage genre, which includes , for example, Paranormal Activity or Devil Inside . Leading actor Wayans described the content as " not exactly a parody "; the film was more characterized by funny roles that do the opposite of what they would do in films of the parodied genre.
action
The young couple Malcolm and Kisha have just moved into their dream home. Malcolm videotapes the first few days in the new home. It soon seems that the young couple doesn't live there alone. However, there are no ghosts in the house. The spook comes from Kisha. As a young girl she had made a pact with the devil , as a result of which she was persecuted by and eventually possessed by a demon . Malcolm makes every effort to get rid of the uninvited guest and instructs priests, ghost hunters or exorcists to achieve this.

On the US opening weekend, the film, which had started with 2,160 copies, grossed 18.1 million US dollars; that is more than seven times the cost of production. By April 16, 2013, he had made 40 million US dollars in North America (USA and Canada) alone.
The film was largely received negatively by critics. Of 53 reviews evaluated on the Rotten Tomatoes meta site , the film received only 9% positive ratings.
"The 'Ghost Movie' staged by Michael Tiddes turns out to be a cleverly designed parade of rough nonsense, malicious jokes, targeted tastelessness and revealing swipes, which is only half as funny as it could have been."
"Parodies of 'Paranormal Activity' and other found footage horror films have too often served as a joke."
"A tired attempt to corrupt the inflationary" found footage "horror, whereby the staging can think of nothing more than to stretch a non-existent plot to the length of a feature film with infantile fecal jokes."
“Infantile would be a compliment here. When it comes to humor, Ghost Movie doesn't go into the bottom drawer, but looks directly under the cupboard and scares you more than all the horror films that it takes on - the fear of a sequel. "
