There are archaeological finds of settlements from the Neolithic Age , from the late 2nd century BC. BC, the 4th and 11th centuries (a burial ground ). After Jan Długosz , the church in Geboltow was donated by Władysław I. Herman in 1082 . From 1306 to 1308 supporters of Bishop Johann Muskata were accused in a legal dispute with Ladislaus I. Ellenlang for the burning of the church. The name is derived from the personal name * Giebołt / Giebełt / Giebałt (≤ German Gabold, Gebelt). In 1319 the priest in Gebeltow was a certain Hanus who lived there with his sister Osanna, from 1325 to 1327 a Florian was present here, later in the years 1330 to 1337 Piotr de Gyebolthow , 1398 Szczepan , 1426 Michał , 1463/1464 Ulryk from Bronowice . In 1397 the villagers Stanisław Kopytnik, Wojciech, Jaszko, Stanik, Dominik, Maciej alias Gordin were mentioned. In 1450 the village was transferred from Polish to German law .
During the third partition of Poland , Giebułtów became part of the Habsburg Empire in 1795 . In the years 1815-1846 the village belonged to the Republic of Krakow , in 1846 it was annexed again as part of the Grand Duchy of Krakow to the countries of the Austrian Empire. From 1855 Giebułtów belonged to the Kraków District . At that time the village bordered Congress Poland in the north (Szyce in the west, Korzkiew in the north and Przybysławice in the northeast).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Giebułtów became part of Poland . This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II when it belonged to the Krakow district in the Generalgouvernement .
From 1945 to 1998 Giebułtów was part of the Kraków Voivodeship.
