Gilberto Macedo da Macena , or simply Gilberto Macena (born April 1, 1984 in Rio de Janeiro ), is a former Brazilian soccer player .
Career
Gilberto Macena learned to play football in the youth team of Comercial FC in Ribeirão Preto in the state of São Paulo . Here he signed his first contract in 2004. In mid-2005 he went to Europe . Here he joined the Danish club Holbæk B&I from Holbæk . In July 2006 he left Holbæk and moved to AC Horsens . The club from Horsens played in the second division, the 1st division . With the club he became league champions in 2010 and thus rose to the first division . By January 2012, he completed 178 games for the club and scored 81 goals. In February 2012 he moved to Asia . Here he signed a contract with Shandong Luneng Taishan in China . The Jinan club played in the country's highest league, the Chinese Super League . He was runner-up with the club in 2013 . In 2014 he moved to the league rivals Zhejiang Greentown in Hangzhou . After a year he went to Thailand . Here he signed a contract with first division club Buriram United in Buriram . With Buriram he became Thai champion in 2015 and won the FA Cup , the Thai League Cup , the Kor Royal Cup and the Mekong Club Championship . After the successful season in Buriram, he went to Saudi Arabia in 2016 , where he joined al-Qadisiyah from Khobar . After half a year he returned to Thailand. In Bangkok he signed a contract with Bangkok United . With the first division team he was runner-up in 2016 and was in the final of the FA Cup in 2017, but lost 4: 2 to first division team Chiangrai United . In 2018 he moved to Chiangrai to Chiangrai United. With Chiangrai he won the FA Cup after beating Buriram 3-2 in the final. After the contract expired at the end of 2018, it was without a contract and without a club until August 2019. At the end of August 2019, his former club Holbæk B&I took him back under contract. After ten games, he ended his career as an active football player at the end of 2019.
