Giorgio Lupano (born October 5, 1969 in Trofarello , Piedmont ) is an Italian actor .

Life

Education and theater

Giorgio Lupano grew up in his native town Trofarello, a small northern Italian village near Turin . He completed his acting training, which he completed in 1993 with an acting diploma, at the Scuola del Teatro Stabile di Torino . As a student, he worked as an extra in opera performances at the Teatro Regio in Turin.

At the beginning of his career there were theater appearances. a. at the Teatro Stabilo in Turin (1992 - 1994/95 season; as Lucilio in Timon von Athen , director: W. Pagliaro). He made his theater debut in 1992 in Le Antigoni della Terra at the Teatro Stabilo; Measure for Measure followed in the same year .

He had stage roles a. a. also in König Lear (1993; directed by Franco Branciaroli), Street Scene (1995, directed by Giorgio Gallione), A Month in the Country (1996–97, directed by Marco Sciaccaluga) and Skylight (1998–99, directed by Luca Barbareschi ). On stage he also worked with the directors Luca Ronconi (1992; in Maß für Maß , Pilade by Pier Paolo Pasolini ), M. Avogadro, Ugo Gregoretti, Krzysztof Zanussi (in: I parenti terribili by Jean Cocteau ), Gabriele Lavia (in Il duello of Heinrich von Kleist ) and Roberto Andò in (2001 's Birthday party by Harold Pinter together). Even later he kept coming back to the theater. In 2004 he took on the leading role in the play Le peintre des Madones by Michel-Marc Bouchard in Montreal (director: Serge Denoncourt). In the 2005-06 season he appeared at the Teatro Comunale di Monfalcone in the comedy Arsen und Spitzenhäubchen von Kesselring (director: Attilio Corsini), in 2007 he played at the Teatro Vittoria in Rome, again under the direction of Attilio Corsini, in Black comedy (German title: Comedy in the Dark ) by Peter Shaffer . From 2009–11 he was the director and, together with Cristian Giammarini, leading actor in the two-person play Maratona di New York by Edoardo Erba . In October 2010 he played in Rome in Campana & il 75 by Israel Horovitz (directed by Eleonora Pippo).

In Maratona di New York he appeared again and again in later years; from November 2014 to February 2015 he went on tour with the piece again and performed a. a. at the Teatro Puccini in Florence (November 2015), at the Teatro Civico in Schio (December 2014) and at the Teatro Remondini in Bassano (January 2015). In November 2015 he performed at the Teatro Duse in Bologna in Figli di un Dio minore by Mark Medoff . He was also on tour in Italy with Figli di un Dio minore . In May 2016 he played in the crime play Nodo alla Gola by Patrick Hamilton at the Teatro Baretti in Turin .

Movie and TV

From the mid-1990s, Lupano was first seen in television series and television films in Italy. He had his first important film role, directed by Roberto Andò, in Il manoscritto del principe (2000), in which he played the young Guido Lanza. He played Fabrizio, the stepson of the writer Serge Novak ( Daniel Auteuil ) in the Franco-Swiss-Italian co-production Preis des Verlangens (2004) by Roberto Andò . From 2010 to 2013 he played the main male role in the Italian television series Paura di amare , in which he played Stefano Loi, the wealthy president of a Turin pharmaceutical company. In the two-part Italian television film K2 - La montagna degli italiani (2012) by Robert Dornhelm , he portrayed the Italian mountaineer Mario Puchoz , who died in an accident at K2 .

Lupano was also seen in several German-language productions from 2011, for example in the ZDF crime series Unter Verdacht (2011; at the side of Senta Berger as the arrogant border guard boss Dottore Francesco Basani) and in the BR series Munich 7 (2012; in a recurring series role as Angelo Malerba, the partner of the series character Moni Riemerschmidt played by Monika Gruber ). In the TV movie The children of Villa Emma (2016), which describes the odyssey of 73 Jewish children and adolescents who in Fascist Italy from the Nazis were saved Lupano played the part in the rescue antifascist doctor Giuseppe Moreali. Private

Lupano lives in Rome. He is proficient in sign language , which he also used in his role in the play Figli di un Dio minore . Lupano has a basic knowledge of the German language; He can therefore be heard in German-speaking roles in his own voice.
