Giselher Quast (born July 28, 1951 in Dresden ) was cathedral preacher at Magdeburg Cathedral from 1979 to 2016 .

Life

Giselher Quast was born the fifth child of a pastor , is married and has one son. From 1961 and 1976 he sang in the Magdeburg Cathedral Choir and learned to play the organ . Quast refused as a convinced pacifist the military service and any alternative service . After he was not admitted to theology studies in 1970 , he passed a special matriculation examination at the church proseminar in Naumburg (Saale) and studied theology at the church college . From 1975 to 1977 Quast was vicar in Magdeburg and from 1977 to 1979 pastor in Eilenburg . From 1979 Giselher Quast was cathedral preacher at Magdeburg Cathedral.
