Giuseppe Appiani
Joseph Ignaz Appiani (Italian: Giuseppe Ignazio Appiani; born October 16, 1706 in Munich , according to other information in Porto Ceresio in the province of Varese; † August 19, 1785 in Triefenstein ) was a painter, in particular a fresco painter , court painter to the Elector of Mainz , founder and first director of the Mainz Art Academy . He was the son of the plasterer Pietro Francesco Appiani from Porto Ceresio and Maria Sophia from (Fürstenfeld) Bruck. His uncle was the plasterer Jacopo Appiani (1687–1742).
