Giuseppe Aversa

Giuseppe Aversa (born January 21, 1862 in Naples , † April 12, 1917 in Munich ) was an Italian priest, Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat.

Life

Giuseppe Aversa was ordained a priest in 1885 , entered the State Secretariat of the Holy See in 1891 and became secret chamberlain in 1895 . In 1898 he learned the German language as a nunciature secretary in Vienna . On December 15, 1902, he was appointed sottos retario for extraordinary affairs and in 1904 house prelate . He was appointed titular archbishop of Sardis on May 25, 1906 and ordained bishop on September 9, 1906 by Rafael Merry del Val y Zulueta . On May 25, 1906, he was appointed Apostolic Delegate in Havana . From 1909 to 1911 he was an Apostolic Delegate in Caracas . On March 2, 1911, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Rio de Janeiro .

On December 4, 1916, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Munich , where he arrived on January 17, 1917, handed over his letter of accreditation on January 23, 1917 , resided at Brienner Straße 45, negotiated with Matthias Erzberger , underwent appendectomy and at Heart failure died.
