Giuseppe Scigliano (writer)

Giuseppe Scigliano (born October 27, 1951 in Cirò ) is an Italian-German teacher , painter , writer and committed to the integration of immigrants . He is a member of the integration advisory board of the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover and has participated several times in the national integration summit of the federal government of the Federal Republic of Germany .

Life

After graduating from school , Giuseppe Scigliano, born in Calabria in 1951, studied in Rome at the Faculty of Education of the Sapienza - Università di Roma and graduated there with the academic degree Dottore in Pedagogia .

Scigliano, trained as a teacher, moved to Linden in the Lower Saxony capital of Hanover in 1981 at the age of around 30 and has since worked temporarily in Hanover and in Osnabrück, where he has been involved in the pilot project "European German-Italian Class in Osnabrück" at the Johannisschule and over the years from 2000 to 2006 developed various teaching materials "for actively learning the Italian language ".

Also since the 1980s Scigliano has published poetry , songs , short stories and prose in German and Italian . His work includes several volumes of poetry, contributions to anthologies and for picture and photo exhibitions . After readings and exhibitions in various German cities, he won "numerous literary prizes and recognitions".

Scigliano is a member of the Association of German Writers (VS) Lower Saxony and the Osnabrücker Authors Progressive PegasOs eV , and a founding member of the artist group ZET in Hanover.

In the 1990s, Scigliano first became - honorary - President of Co.As: Scigliano. Hannover , a school committee financed by the Italian Foreign Ministry.

From 1999 to 2004 Scigliano was the president of the CAAI, the committee for the support of Italian citizens in Lower Saxony.

Also in 2004, Giuseppe Scigliano became president of one of the COM.IT.ES , a regional and non-partisan political body of Italians abroad, here COM.IT.ES Hanover , which is legally prescribed by the Italian parliament for their respective consulate districts . In this function, Scigliano initiated various projects, including the “street team” sports project together with the city of Hanover.

In the same year 2004, Scigliano also took on the duties of deputy of INTERCOMES Germania, the national, non-partisan political body of Italians abroad.

Scigliano's voluntary commitments included, for example, participation in the national integration summit of the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Germany . In addition, Scigliano has been a member of the local integration council of the city of Hanover since 2007. He once commented on this as follows:

“ For me, integration in Germany means moving from 'I' and 'you' to 'we'; to participate without having to discard one's own identity . "

In 2008 Giuseppe Scigliano was appointed a member of the regional advisory board for the Calabria region. His hometown Ciro recognized his work and his social commitment with a city-owned award.

In 2010, the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano awarded Scigliano the title of Cavaliere .

In recognition of the commitment to the integration of immigrants, the German President Joachim Gauck awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany to the three Hanoverians Hülya Feise, Sahabeddin Buz and Giuseppe Scigliano in July 2014 in Berlin .

In 2017 Giuseppe Scigliano worked as a lecturer in Italian at the educational association for social learning and communication .

Scigliano is also president of the Italian soccer club US Figli d'Italia Hannover 09 based in Hanover-Badenstedt .

Literary prizes

  • 1986: 1st prize for poetry in the Wolfsburg Prize 1986 competition , advertised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Wolfsburg under the direction of Giuditta Podestà
  • 1993: Honorary Prize Premio Internazionale of the Artemisia Gentileschi Association ( Benestare in Calabria) for the book Picture Other Times
  • 1994: Badge of honor for the International Enzo Chianella Prize of the City of Latina , Italy
  • 2001: Badge of honor for the international Rocco Certo Prize , Tonnarella (ME), Italy
  • 2005: Prize "I magnifici Cento", Heritage-Calabria San Giovanni in Fiore ( Crotone )
