The Glanzfleckdrongo ( Dicrurus bracteatus ) is a species of bird from the family of Drongos .
It was previously considered to be specific to the hair bush drongo ( Dicrurus hottentottus ).
It occurs in Australia , Indonesia , the Solomon Islands , Thailand , Papua New Guinea and northeast India .
The distribution area includes a wide range of tropical forests such as rain , gallery or mangrove forests .
description
The male is 30 to 32 cm tall, weighs 88 g, the female is 28 to 30 cm tall and weighs 76 g, otherwise the sexes do not differ. The plumage is shiny black with a blue-green sheen, the tail is long and deeply forked, the iris is blood red. Occasionally white spots can be seen on the top of the wing. Young birds are paler and still without shine, the iris is brown.

Way of life
The diet consists mainly of winged insects , but also caterpillars and occasionally small vertebrates.
The breeding season in Australia is between September and early May. The nest is usually hung on a branch and is reminiscent of a cradle or hammock. This drongo is aggressive not only in vicinity of the nest, especially to predators, but pursue other birds, like Stachelbürzlern , booty.
Hazardous situation
The stock is not considered to be at risk ( least concern ).
