Glinojeck is a city in Poland in the Masovian Voivodeship .

Geographical location

The city of Glinojeck is located in the northwest of the Masovian Voivodeship on the River Wkra ( Uecker ). Not far from the city run the European route 77 from Warsaw to Gdansk and the national route 60 from Płock to Ciechanów .

history

The first documentary mention of a settlement on the site of today's Glinojeck comes from 1403 . During the third partition of Poland , the place came to Prussia . With the formation of the Duchy of Warsaw , Glinojeck became part of the same in 1807 and part of Congress Poland in 1815 . The boom in the village only began with the establishment of the Izabelin sugar factory in 1857-1859. The name of the factory was derived from the name of the daughter of the first owner. After the First World War , the village became part of the municipality of Młock and in 1924 it was connected to the rail network. From January 1, 1955, the place became the seat of a gromada ( village community ) with ten school offices and remained so until 1973, when the community was converted into a community ( gmina ). During an administrative reform, the place became part of the newly formed Voivodeship Ciechanów in 1975 . From 1976 to 1985 a new Glinojeck sugar factory was built, the largest in Europe. After another administrative reform, Glinojeck became part of the Masovian Voivodeship. In 1993 Glinojeck was granted city rights.
