Lists on the subject |
The Glock 17 is a self-loading pistol in caliber 9 × 19 mm , which is manufactured by the Austrian Glock GmbH . It is the starting model of the Glock pistols , which are technically largely identical to it and only differ in terms of the different frame sizes, barrel lengths and calibres. The locking system corresponds to that of the Glock 19 .
description
The Glock 17 is made of 40% plastic, which makes the weapon very light. The barrel and breech are made of metal, the barrel has a polygonal profile . In total, the Glock 17 consists of only 33 parts. This makes it easier to maintain the weapon and makes it very popular with security guards and members of the army. Among other things, the Glock 17 is also used by German special forces such as B. the GSG 9 or the SEKs used in various federal states. The pistol has a so-called safe-action trigger system. This means that the weapon is always partially cocked after loading. This weapon is a cockless pistol, which means that the firing pin is cocked directly. The ammunition capacity is 17, 19 or 33 cartridges depending on the magazine.
Locking
The locking system of the Glock pistol 17 and 19 is a further development of the locking system of the Colt M1911 developed by John Moses Browning ; in contrast to this, the rear block-shaped barrel of the Glock locks directly in the ejection window of the breech slide.
Reloading
After the shot has been fired, the barrel and slide move back together until the pressure has dropped. As with the locking system of the Colt M1911 developed by John Moses Browning, the rear end of the barrel is tilted to unlock. With the Glock pistol, this is done by a rod-shaped control link located diagonally below the barrel, directly between the barrel and a corresponding surface on the frame.
variants
The Glock 17 is also available - like other Glock models - as the Glock 17C (Compensator). The compensator is an integral part of the weapon construction. Due to the compensator bores eroded in the barrel and the extension of these bores through the slide, part of the gases that expand when the shot is fired is diverted upwards, which reduces the rifling of the weapon as part of the recoil. The disadvantage of the compensator constructions is that the gunner can be blinded by the muzzle flash, which is partly directed upwards - especially in night situations - and thus the use by the military, police etc. is only possible to a limited extent.
Another variant is the Glock 17L , which has a longer barrel. Instead of 131 mm as with the standard Glock, the barrel length of the Glock 17L is 153 mm.
