Gödersdorf (Slovenian Vodiča vas) is a village in Carinthia . The cadastral community of the same name comprises six localities and is part of the market town of Finkenstein am Faaker See in the Villach-Land district .
geography
The village of Gödersdorf is located approx. 5 km south of the city of Villach, at the exit of the Gail Valley, in the Villach Basin. The Faaker See is also in the immediate vicinity at a distance of five kilometers. The Villach-Warmbad motorway exit, the Warmbad-Villach thermal baths and the ATRIO shopping center can also be reached in a few minutes by car. Neufinkenstein Castle also belongs to the village of Gödersdorf . The cadastral community of Gödersdorf is made up of the following localities (in brackets the population of the 2017 register census):
- Gödersdorf, 388: Main town with single-family houses and multi-storey buildings, the core of which is rural
- Stobitzen, 211: Residential area without a town center, but with a small industrial area
- Techanting , 358: residential area with many new buildings, originally 2 town centers (Ober- and Untertechanting)
- Susalitsch, 95: agricultural village
- Müllnern, 210: residential area with some commercial operations (Finkensteiner noodle factory, Starke, Lindner)
- Neumüllnern, 124: ribbon-like housing estate without a town center

The cadastral community of Gödersdorf currently has 1,386 inhabitants (2017 census). Most of the localities are affected by a population decline despite their favorable location in the suburb of Villach, between 2001 and 2017 the cadastral community lost 71 inhabitants (around 5%). The localities of Gödersdorf (−14%) and Müllnern (−17%) in particular had to record large population losses. Only in Techanting, which is a popular residential area with many new single-family houses, is the population increasing steadily.
Infrastructure
The place has an elementary school ("Peter Rossegger Schule") which is currently attended by around 55 children in four classes. The "Kleeblatt" after school care center is also located in the building. The Stiegerhof agricultural college is also located in Stobitzen.
The village is connected to the railway network by the "Gödersdorf" train station, where the S2 to Rosenbach or Villach stops.
The L51 (Gödersdorfer Landesstraße) is the main access road to Gödersdorf. It ran through the center of the village until 1983, before a bypass was built outside the village, relieving the town center and making Villach easier to reach.
The Gödersdorf post office was closed in 2002. Since then there has been no local supplier in the village.
Regular events
The church day , which the local village community organizes annually, takes place on the second weekend in August. The base fire department Gödersdorf with about 50 members, four emergency vehicles and special equipment invites every year on the first weekend in July to the fire festival. The maypole festival and Advent singing are also part of the event calendar.

The Alpe-Adria-Golf Schloss Finkenstein between Finkenstein and Gödersdorf opened in early May 2005.
