Gordon Scott (actor)

Gordon Scott (born August 3, 1927 in Portland , Oregon , † April 30, 2007 in Baltimore , Maryland ; actually Gordon Merrill Werschkul ) was an American actor .

Life and accomplishments

After finishing school at the University of Oregon and serving in the Army, Scott worked in various professions until he was selected in 1953 (he was employed at the Las Vegas Sahara Hotel at the time) to succeed Lex Barker as Tarzan actor. In his first film for the RKO , he met his fellow actor Vera Miles , whom he married in 1956. Three years later, Scott also played the first Tarzan to be filmed in color. He represented the "Lord of the Jungle" a total of six times.

Then Scott switched production country and genre: in Italy he displayed his muscles in peplums . After portraits by u. a. Remus , Goliath , Samson and Hercules and after the genre had peaked, Scott, like almost all former " mythological " actors, turned to spaghetti westerns . So he played Buffalo Bill and directed by Albert Bands in 1966 in Die Trampler . After two more films, both acting in the agent milieu, Scott withdrew from the film business.

Scott was married three times and had a son, Michael, born in 1957.
