Got to Dance is a German dance - talent show that from since June 20, 2013 ProSieben and Sat.1 will broadcast. It is an offshoot of the British program of the same name , which has been in production since 2009. The show will be recorded in the Coloneum (MMC Studios) in Cologne . After three seasons broadcast from 2013 to 2015, ProSieben announced that there would be no further season in 2016.

In autumn 2015, Sat.1 broadcast a children's version of the show. Nikeata Thompson , Bürger Lars Dietrich and Susan Sideropoulos served as the jury . As with the main show, Alexandra Maurer moderated .

concept

The concept is analogous to the original English show. The show is a talent show for dancers and does not restrict participants in dance style or group size. You can win 100,000 euros. First, the candidates dance in front of the jurors in the auditions. By pressing a yellow or red star, they decide whether they will advance to the semi-finals. If only one jury member awarded a red star, the candidate was out of the running in seasons 1 and 2. In season 3, on the other hand, there is a so-called callback for a candidate with only one red star: He appears again in front of the jury (this time without an audience in the hall) to change the mind of one of the jurors. In the semifinals, the candidates compete against one or two others (battle round). The jury decides who will be sent to the televoting. The viewers decide in televoting which battle winners can move into the final. Before that, in season 3, the jury sends its favorites from each semi-final to the final round.

    criticism

“'Got to Dance' answers the question that every singing casting show has so far failed to answer: Why are you actually looking for talent on television? Because you have to see them. [...] The show has speed and rhythm - and is entertaining at first. That is a goal that is not so easily attainable. [...] At the end of the dance show, it provides a good two hours of harmless entertainment with individual, very spectacular acts. You get excited, but who will win in the end? You don't care. [...] So no matter what the quota is: Nobody has to hide for this technically clean shipment - that is also a difference to the previous experiments. "

    Awards

On October 2nd, 2013 Got to Dance was awarded the German Television Prize in the category “Best Entertainment Show”. As part of the Munich Media Days on October 22, 2015, the digital marketing campaign for Got to Dance was awarded the 1st prize of the International Eyes and Ears Awards in the category Best Digital Marketing Campaign .
