Gottfried Sperl

Gottfried Sperl (born August 12, 1954 in Judenburg , Styria ) is an Austrian politician of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). From November 14, 2017 to December 16, 2019, he was a delegated member of the Austrian Federal Council by the Styrian State Parliament , and from 2010 to 2014 he was mayor of the Frojach-Katsch community .

Life

After primary school in Frojach and secondary school in Murau, Gottfried Sperl attended the commercial school in Graz from 1969 to 1972 . In 1972/73 he completed the military service , from 1974 he attended the Federal Real Gymnasium for Working People (BRGfB) at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt , where he graduated in 1977 and completed the professional officer training in 1980 and was retired as a lieutenant . He was then a professional officer in the Austrian Armed Forces at the Upper Austria Military Command and stationed at Vogler Air Base in Hörsching . He was promoted to colonel in 2004 and retired in 2016.

Gottfried Sperl was a member of the local council of the market town of Hörsching from 1989 to 1999 , from 2005 to 2010 he was a member of the local council of the community of Frojach-Katsch , where he was also mayor from 2010 to 2014 . Since 2015 he has been a councilor of the merged municipality of Teufenbach-Katsch . Until March 2016, he was also the FPÖ district party leader in the Murau district .

In November 2017 he was sent to the Austrian Federal Council by the Styrian Landtag . He succeeded Arnd Meißl , who moved to the Landtag of Styria. After the state elections in 2019 , he resigned from the Federal Council on December 16, 2019.
