Grabersdorf is a former municipality with 335 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the southeast of Styria in the district of Southeast Styria . As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria , it has been merged with the municipalities of Aug-Radisch , Baumgarten bei Gnas , Gnas , Maierdorf , Poppendorf , Raning , Trössing and Unterauersbach since 2015 ; the new municipality continues the name Gnas. The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structural Reform Act - StGsrG.

Grabersdorf is located approx. 38 km southeast of Graz and approx. 12 km southwest of the district capital Feldbach in the eastern Styrian hill country .

The community consisted of a single cadastral community or locality of the same name.

history

The earliest written document is from 1368 and is "Chrabotsdorf". The name goes back to the Slovenian Hrvat (Croat). The name suggests that the original settlers were not Alpine Slavs, but southern Slavs (Croats).

The municipal council consisted of nine members and, since the municipal council election in 2010, has consisted of mandates from the following parties:

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from February 1, 1989.
Blazon (coat of arms description):

"In red under a golden star and above a golden St. Andrew's cross, a golden cradle in side and left front view."

The golden cradle symbolizes life. The star and St. Andrew's cross refer to the Maria Church and St. Andrew's Chapel.
