Gregory M. "Greg" Zanon (born June 5, 1980 in Burnaby , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who played 511 games for the Nashville Predators , Minnesota Wild , Boston Bruins and Colorado during his active career between 1999 and 2015 Avalanche has played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender .

Career

Greg Zanon played for the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the CCHA from 1999 to 2003 . During this time, Zanon was selected in the fifth round in 156th position in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators . On July 9, 2003 he signed as a free agent with the Nashville Predators , where he first played three seasons for the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League . In the 2003/04 season he won the Calder Cup with the Admirals . He came to his first NHL mission in the 2005/06 season , playing four games for the Nashville Predators.

From the 2006/07 season he was an integral part of the defense of the Nashville Predators. On July 1, 2009, he signed a contract as a free agent with the Minnesota Wild , who transferred him to the Boston Bruins on February 27, 2012 in exchange for Steven Kampfer . After his expiring contract was not renewed, Zanon signed a new two-year contract on July 1, 2012 with the Colorado Avalanche .
