Groß Oßnig ( Lower Sorbian Wjeliki Wóseńk ) is a district of the municipality of Neuhausen / Spree in the Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg .

Location and accessibility

Groß Oßnig is located in Niederlausitz, just under seven kilometers south of Cottbus city ​​center. Surrounding towns are the Gallinchen district in the north, Frauendorf in the northeast, Neuhausen in the east, Roschitz in the southeast, Klein Döbbern in the south, Harnischdorf in the west and the Cottbus district Groß Gaglow in the northwest.

The federal road 97 , which connects the town with Cottbus and Spremberg , runs through Groß Oßnig . The places Roschitz and Harnischdorf belong to Groß Oßnig as parts of the municipality .

Groß Oßnig was first mentioned in a document in 1413.

After the Congress of Vienna , the entire Lower Lusatia and thus also Groß Oßnig came to the Kingdom of Prussia . The community has always been in the Cottbus district and from July 25, 1952 in the Cottbus-Land district in the Cottbus district . After the reunification, Groß Oßnig was in the Cottbus district in Brandenburg . On July 16, 1992, Groß Oßnig joined the Neuhausen / Spree office . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , Groß Oßnig came to the newly formed Spree-Neisse district . On September 19, 2004 the Neuhausen / Spree office was dissolved and the associated communities, including Groß Oßnig, were incorporated into Neuhausen / Spree .
