Grofri-Werke AG was an automobile factory from Atzgersdorf near Vienna .
description
Robert Gross and Leopold Friedmann founded the company. They manufactured automobiles from 1921 . The brand name was Grofri .
First of all, large cars with six-cylinder engines were built. From 1924 small cars were also produced, which were manufactured under license from the French Amilcar .
The sporty cars were equipped with four-cylinder engines with SV valve control, which had a displacement of 903 cm³ or 1047 cm³. There were also racing versions, some with Roots superchargers . These racing cars took part in a number of hill climbs and also achieved impressive successes.
In 1925 the construction of the large six-cylinder models was stopped, and in 1927 the construction of the small cars was also discontinued. In 1931 the large works was closed due to a precarious financial situation.
