The Avis plane and automobile works GmbH , previously Technical workshops GmbH , was a manufacturer of automobiles and airplanes from Austria .

Company history

The company Technical workshops GmbH was in on 12 April 1921 Vienna founded. On July 15, 1924, the name was changed to Avis Flugzeug- und Autowerke GmbH . The company headquarters was now in Brunn am Gebirge . In 1921 the production of automobiles began, developed by Franz Dozekal. The brand name was Avis . Automobile production ended in 1928. From 1924 on, aircraft were also made. The company was dissolved in 1928 or 1931.

The company produced the small car 4/20 hp . A water-cooled two - cylinder engine provided the drive . The Type 5 had a larger wheelbase and a larger track width than the Type 3 . There was a choice of different bodies, including a Coupé de Ville . The vehicles were thus also used as taxis .

Planes

In this first new aircraft factory of the Republic of Austria , three types of training and sport aircraft were built, a cabin aircraft and a three-engine transport machine, which was the first large Austrian aircraft. In addition, rented and bought machines from Fokker were used . After flying into the works airfield, the aircraft were transferred to the Vienna-Aspern operational airfield .
