The U-Wagen-Werke Ing. Umann were a manufacturer of automobiles from Austria .

Company history

The Vienna-based company began producing automobiles in 1919 under the direction of the engineer Umann. The brand name was U-Wagen . Production ended in 1923.

The company manufactured small cars. In two-seat prototype U 1 one came two-cylinder engine with 489 cc displacement are used. A special feature was its Soden transmission with automatic pre-selection, developed by Carl Alfred Graf von Soden-Fraunhofen , Director of ZF . The empty weight was 360 kg. In the 7/18 hp series model , a four-cylinder engine with 760 cm³ or 780 cm³ displacement provided the drive. The most common body shape was that of a two-seater roadster . In 1920 the 7/18 PS U 2 model added to the range. Its engine had a displacement of 1100 cm³. The body offered either space for two or four people.

On August 12, 1923, two vehicles took part in the IV. Filius-Fahrt in memory of the deceased co-founder of the "Allgemeine Automobil-Zeitung", Adolf Schmal-Filius .
