The Ledl Ges.mbH is in Tattendorf ( Lower Austria -based) Austrian company which until 1987 cars produced.
history
In the 1970s, Günter Ledl began to produce buggies and replicas made of GRP based on VW Beetle chassis . A total of over 800 such vehicles were built. On November 22, 1978, the Ledl Tanga, the prototype of an independent sports car, was presented. In September 1981 the Ledl AS model went into series production. The two-seater vehicle had a wedge-shaped body made of GRP that was based on super sports cars , but the motorization was limited to four-cylinder engines from Ford .
Due to problems with the typification of the vehicle for the Austrian market, Ledl had to concentrate on export. A total of 249 copies of the Ledl AS were made, some of which were even sold as far as Japan and New Zealand. In Austria, however, only 17 vehicles could be registered for road traffic by court order. In 1987, the introduction of mandatory catalytic converters in Austria meant the end of production: the loss of production until the new Ford engines were available was not financially manageable for such a small company.
The production of the buggies continued until 1994. Today the company manufactures auto accessories under the name Ledl Tuning .
