The Wiener Automobile GmbH was a manufacturer of automobiles and trucks from Austria-Hungary , later Austria . The company may not with the Wiener Automobilfabrik AG, vorm. Gräf & Stift can be confused.
Company history
The company was founded in April 1911 in Vienna to produce automobiles. It was the successor company to Bock & Hollender . The owner was Georg Zachariades and Ferdinand Trummer the designer. The brand name was WAF . Production ended at the end of 1925.
vehicles
Initially, the company manufactured the 25 HP and 35 HP models, which were still based on the models that Trummer designed for Bock & Hollender. In 1914 the 45 hp , also known as the Alpine type , appeared. It had a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2800 cc and 45 hp . The first participation in the alpine tour took place in 1912, and the next in 1914 with the 45 hp .
During the First World War , trucks were built for the Austro-Hungarian army . The small models with 1.5, 2 and 3 tons had a cardan drive . The largest model with 5 tons had a chain drive.
After the war there were the 11/35 hp models with a four-cylinder engine and 21/50 hp with a six-cylinder engine . The top model was the 15/45 hp with an eight-cylinder engine . Here, two four-cylinder engines were lined up to create an in -line eight-cylinder engine . The displacement was 4000 cm³. One vehicle in this series won a class at the Rainer-Bergfahrt in Salzburg on June 29, 1924.
