The Achilles bicycle and motor vehicle factory A. Schneider & Co. was a manufacturer of bicycles , motorcycles and automobiles from Austria-Hungary , later Czechoslovakia .

Company history

The Horní Police company was founded in 1894. Between 1906 and 1912, automobiles were built under the direction of A. Schneider and W. John. The brand name was Achilles . Motorbike production also began in 1906. After the First World War , Schneider's son-in-law Ernst Weikert headed the plant. Bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles were now created . At times, 2,400 employees worked for the company. Bicycle production did not end until the Second World War . In 1946 the owners were expropriated, who then moved to Germany and later founded Achilles-Werke West GmbH .
