R. Antonin Smekal founded the company in 1912 in Slatiňany, Bohemia, and began producing automobiles. The brand names were Turicum and Mars . Production ended in 1913. In total, only a few copies were made.

The company manufactured vehicles under a license from Zürcher or Usterner Turicum AG . Many parts also came directly from Turicum.
