Company history

Christian Linser founded a metal goods factory in Reichenberg in 1858 or 1895 . Around 1900 the production of bicycles began and in 1902 the production of motorcycles , which initially bore the brand name Zeus . In 1906 automobiles were added. At the same time, the brand name Linser was introduced for all motor vehicles. Automobile production ended in 1908, motorcycle production in 1910 or 1912 and bicycle production in 1912. Between 1908 and 1913, parts were still made for the Reichenberger Automobil Fabrik and Laurin & Klement . In 1913 Laurin & Klement took over the company. Another source states that the company existed until 1934, when it was taken over by Winter & Co. after the economic collapse . The Appelt company took over the foundry.

Automobiles

In March 1906 the first automobile was presented at the 6th International Motor Show in Vienna . A water-cooled four - cylinder four - stroke engine with a displacement of 1640 cm³ and an output of 12 hp provided the drive . The engine power of the engine mounted in the front of the vehicle was optionally transmitted to the rear axle via chains or cardan drive . The transmission had three gears and one reverse gear. Most of the vehicles were open two-, three- and four-seaters, but there were also some closed bodies.
