Grosuplje ( German : Großlupp ) is a municipality in the Dolenjska region in Slovenia .

Location and inhabitants

Grosuplje is located in the Ljubljana region . The total municipality has 20,059 inhabitants, 7,230 of them in the city of Grosuplje alone. The village was first mentioned in 1136. After the connection to the rail network, the place grew rapidly.

8 km south of Grosuplje is the Županova jama cave , one of the most beautiful caves in Slovenia. In 1926 the cave was discovered by the mayor at the time. It is therefore also called Županova jama, the mayor's cave.
